About Ithaca

Welcome to St. John's

On the surface, St. John’s reflects the busyness and intensity of our society in general and Ithaca in particular. However we come from a wide variety of social and ethnic backgrounds and life experiences. We are introverts and extroverts, single, married, partnered, divorced, widowed, separated, remarried, gay, lesbian, with and without children, carpenters, academics, social workers, artists, restaurant workers, students, seekers, retired, unemployed, in recovery and specially challenged. It is difficult to imagine that there isn’t someone like you here at St. John’s.
Together in all times and circumstances, we strive to consciously honor and respect our differences and care for one another. As we lift up our hearts in worship, we intend to grow more and more as examples of reconcilers, healers, and bearers of Good News. God invites us all to the table. Please join us.

Sincerely,
Philip W. Snyder, Rector

Philip W. Snyder has been Rector of St. John's since 1988. His book, Road Trips, Revelations, and Old Trees: Meditations for Men (Morehouse-Barlow) was published in spring 2000.
