Layout, Ease of Use and Navigation:
    “Web Usability” cites many factors and approaches to be considered in the presentation and access of information. These can be summed up by the overall guideline “Less is More and Elegance is Simplicity".

Design and Development Tools:
    Dreamweaver MX will be the primary site development software due to its ease of use, cross platform capabilities (Windows and Macintosh), its rich features set, FTP; and site management tools including customization, and workflow & collaboration tools. Web and content ( i.e. page) sextons may use other web development software provided the pages and features generated are compatible with those of Dreamweaver.

    In addition to the Dreamweaver MX Documentation, the "Visual Quickstart Guide Dreamweaver 4 for Windows and and Macintosh" will be the primary written development reference.

   OneWorldHosting.com is the current official web hosting service for St. John's Web Site. It was selected after extensive definition of needed site capabilities, detailed comparison of numerous candidate hosts through the use of a weighted ranking system.

   InterBase 7.0, Advantage, and MySql will be used as the database servers for the site. Delphi 7.0 and Intraweb will be the software for the development, translation, and rendering of the the database features of the site.

Guidelines for Operation & Maintenance

Categories of Information on the Site:
    In keeping with the Home Run design criteria discussed in the Design & Development Section of this manual, the following standards have been adopted:

 In general, information that is published monthly in St. John's newsletter, the "Eagle", will not be placed on the web site. Selective weekly information, from the Sunday Bulletin, about times of services, special announcements, individuals serving as greeters, ushers, acolytes, lay ministers, counters will be placed on the site in appropriate pages or locations.

When completed special events announcements will be removed from the site within two business days. Updates to the site will be completed by Monday of each week.

Matrix of Information Review & Clearance:
     High quality and timely information require that the following set of guidelines of reviews and time limits be established. Web sextons shall not be placed in the role of obtaining the needed reviews nor given unreasonable deadlines for placing the information on the site. It will be the responsibility of the various reviewers to certify to the Web Sextons that the material is appropriate and has received the necessary clearances.

   The following E-mail lists have been established to facility communication between committee members, leadership groups and the parish.
